When I was working as a personal trainer, I constantly had clients that wanted to reduce the number they saw on the scale. After working out for two weeks, many would freak out because that scale number would go up - as a result of them gaining muscle mass, which weighs more than fat mass. We would reassure them that they really were losing weight - that the scale number shouldn't be the one they were focusing on, but the number of inches or body fat they were losing - those were the numbers that showed real progress. So your goal this week? Measure yourself. Measure your waist, arms, legs, and hips and make a note of them. Re-measure again in 4 weeks and use those numbers to track your progress. If you must weigh yourself on the scale, do it now, then put the scale away in the closet or somewhere and get it out again when you re-take your measurements. Instead of looking at the numbers everyday, focus on how your clothes fit, or how better you are sleeping, or how much more energy you have. After all - those are the measurements that show real progress.

This is a great idea Stephanie!! Darrell and I started Body ofr Life today and hopefully in the next few weeks will have some reaults. There are so many reasons I went with BFL, but the main reason is because it tells me what to do each day and what exactly I can eat- with recipe's. I need that in order for something to work- or I end up cheating. After the 12 weks I'm hoping to have much better eating habits and continue them each day. My kids aren't too excited, but after time they'll get use to no dessert each night adn healthier foods in their luches- I hope!!
I have an excel spreadsheet where you can enter the measurements for you body and it tells you your BMI how many inches you've lost in total. If anyone wants it just email me.
Alissa, I just read your comment and I think the BFL is a great program. I did it this winter and it helped a lot. The part I liked about it was that it focused on becoming an overall healty person not becoming a size one! I had great sucess with it so good luck to you!
One thing I didnt do was measure myself before I started doing it and I highly recommend it, I know I lost inches b/c I went down 4 pant sizes but it sure would be nice to know how much!
